Programs
Our focus is on creating opportunities for students to take ownership of environmental issues in their own urban communities and have an experience that allows them to feel empowered to help resolve the issue through their own responsible decision making. Its unique model of environmental education brings together the fields of youth development, school improvement, and service-learning. Eco Education’s work revolves around providing meaningful experiences for young people to:
- Understand their relationship to the urban environment, natural, built and social, particularly how they affect it and are affected by it
- Address environmental issues relevant to their community by practicing problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Make an impact by participating in a community environmental project
- Work with, be heard by, and be recognized by adults who care about environmental issues
Eco Education has a variety of program offerings for schools with particular emphasis on 5th-12th grades in Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota.
